About

As you might have guessed, my name is Pascal. I’m a software engineer based in Zurich, Switzerland. I currently work at Google as a Developer Relations Engineer as part of a team that aims to accelerate the web through CMSes like WordPress.

This involves workstreams such as improving performance and experimenting with client-side media processing, but als Web AI explorations and increasing adoption of new web platform APIs such as Invoker Commands. Most recently I have enabled AI-powered WordPress development with WP-CLI and the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

As an active WordPress community member and core committer, I know how important it is to give something back. Over the years I have made numerous contributions to WordPress and other open source projects. For example, I helped make embedding content from WordPress and updating your site easier than ever.

I am also a co-maintainer of WP-CLI, the official command line interface for WordPress. I also helped co-organize local events such as WordCamps and the WordPress Zurich Meetup. Most recently, I have been leading the WordCamp Europe 2025 speakers team:

From time to time I also speak at conferences about technical topics like internationalization and performance. Some videos can be found on WordPress.tv, with slides available on Speaker Deck.
